Basic Concepts

Once active on an Organization, the Arpoone user needs to configure the feature in a way that best fits his needs. To do this, several concepts must be taken into account:

  • A 2WM configuration is represented, at it's most basic state, as a destination phone number and it's respective keywords;
  • In an incoming SMS sent to the destination number, the keyword is the first word of the text, right up to the first space character;
  • When an incoming SMS contains a keyword that exists/is configured on that destination number's configuration, it will be matched to it;
  • The Arpoone user has the ability to configure keywords to be an exact match, or a wildcard (more on that later);
  • During the configuration of the feature, when adding or editing a keyword, the Arpoone user has the ability to define what actions are executed when an incoming SMS is matched to it:
    • The Arpoone user may have the inbound SMS routed to an endpoint of his choosing (webhooks);
    • The Arpoone user may have the inbound SMS trigger an automatic SMS response sent to the same phone number that the incoming SMS was sent from;
  • It's also possible to set up a fallback configuration on the destination number, which means that all incoming SMS's, that don't match any configured keyword, will then be processed with the fallback configuration;
  • A fallback configuration can have actions associated with it (routing and automatic SMS response), just like keywords;

The Arpoone user may set up each 2WM configuration to have a Begin and/or End date-time. Please keep in mind that once a configuration has reached it's End date-time, the destination number will enter a grace-period of 30 days before becoming available again to be used in another 2WM configuration (eventually by another organization). The Arpoone user must plan accordingly.
